Q1: I am a woman who wants to fast three days every month, but I am unable to fast on the thirteenth, fourteenth, and fifteenth days; because I am a woman and the circumstances of menstruation and post-natal bleeding may occur. Is it permissible for me to fast them on any day of the month without specifying the 13th, 14th, and 15th? And if I fast them on any day of the month, is it considered fasting the whole year or not? May Allah reward you with good.
Volume 1: It is best for one who wants to fast three days of the month to fast the white days, the thirteenth, fourteenth, and fifteenth. If he fasts three other days, there is no harm, and we hope that this will amount to fasting the whole year; because a good deed is rewarded ten times over; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) advised Abu Hurayrah and Abu al-Darda to fast three days of every month, and he did not specify the white days. And because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both):Jami` at-Tirmidhi 762Da'if (Darussalam)
