Inheritance of wealth mixed with that which is forbidden

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of fatwa number ( 14586 )
Q1: I have brothers and sisters, but O honorable Shaykh, we inherited wealth from our father, and part of this wealth was acquired from that which is forbidden, but we do not know exactly how much; because our father acquired it from a certain time and naturally mixed it with a capital of lawful wealth, and he continued to trade in it, and then he passed away, and we inherited this wealth and we traded in it. What is obligatory upon us, O honorable Shaykh, when we do not know the amount of this forbidden wealth?

A1: There is no blame on you regarding what you inherited from your father, and you must give in charity the amount that you believe is most likely to have entered your father’s possession through forbidden means, to the poor you see, or to some charitable organizations; such as the mujahideen in the path of Allah, and those in need of marriage who are unable to afford its costs, and the like of good deeds that require money. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
