The third question of Fatwa No. ( 16816 )
Q3: Those who conduct trade in the vegetable market empty the vegetable and fruit cartons, place paper scraps and cartons inside the cardboard, and then place the vegetables and fruits on top of them; so that the buyer does not notice, sees the cardboard as full, and buys it at the price of a full carton. When he arrives home and empties it, he sees the deception, and that the fruit or vegetables are only a little at the top of the cardboard. This matter occurs in all vegetable markets. And Allah knows best, we have not forbidden the country except for this, and likewise, if a foreigner converts to Islam or desires Islam and sees that deception, he may consider it part of Islam and turn away from it. What is the ruling on that?
A3: It is not permissible to place in vegetable boxes or other containers of goods intended for sale anything that deceives the buyer, and he thinks it is part of the goods when it is not; because of the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Sunan Ibn Majah 2225Da'if (Darussalam) .
