Hoarding and Price Fixing

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first and second questions of Fatwa No. ( 6374 ):
Q1: If a Muslim is able to store goods in his home for a period of up to
several months, especially since the supply of some of these goods in our country is limited, such as (rice, ghee), is it permissible for a Muslim to store these goods, and what is the maximum duration for this storage?

A1: It is not permissible to store anything that people need, and this is called: hoarding; due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
No one hoards but a sinner.لا يحتكر إلا خاطئ
Sunan Ibn Majah 2154Sahih (Darussalam)
narrated by Ahmad and Muslim and Abu Dawud and al-Nasa'i and Ibn Majah, and because of the harm it causes to Muslims. As for what people do not need, it is permissible to store it until they need it, then it should be offered to them to remove hardship and harm from them. Thus, it becomes clear that the duration of the permissibility of storage is linked to people’s lack of need for what is stored, whether the period is long or short.
