Q: One of my relatives rented a shop for approximately ten thousand riyals and obtained three visas for it. After obtaining the visas, one of his friends came to him and said, “I want a visa for a person I care about and who is a relative of mine,” and they paid him eight thousand riyals with their consent. After the payment was made, the person seeking the visa was in Saudi Arabia , and he remained in Saudi Arabia until the visa’s validity period expired, despite the visa holder warning him to travel and renew the visa before its expiration. However, he stayed until the visa expired. After the visa’s validity period ended, this person came to my relative asking him to return half of the amount.
But my relative refused and said, “You are the one who did not travel until the visa’s validity period expired, and thus you are the one who caused this for yourself.” My question is: Is he sinful for taking this amount? We ask you to issue a ruling on this. May Allah reward you with good.
