Buying from disbelievers while Muslims are present

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The third question of Fatwa No. ( 3323 )
Q3: What is the ruling on Muslims abandoning cooperation among themselves by refusing to buy from Muslims, and preferring to buy from the shops of disbelievers? Is this lawful or forbidden?
A3: The basic ruling is that it is permissible for a Muslim to buy what he needs from what Allah has made lawful, whether from a Muslim or a disbeliever. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) bought from the Jews. However, if a Muslim turns away from buying from his Muslim brother without a reason such as deception, price gouging, or poor quality of goods, and instead loves buying from a disbeliever, desires it, and prefers it over the Muslim without justification, then this is forbidden. This is because it involves showing loyalty to disbelievers, being pleased with them, and loving them. It also causes loss to Muslim merchants and stagnation of their goods, preventing them from selling well if a Muslim makes this a habit. As for cases where there are reasons to turn away, such as those mentioned above, he should advise his Muslim brother to abandon the defects that drive customers away. If he accepts the advice, praise be to Allah. If not, he should turn to someone else, even a disbeliever who is good in exchanging benefits and truthful in his dealings.
