Q: Is jihad in the abode of war, meaning an offensive war to seize power and bring non-Muslims into Islam?
A: Allah the Exalted prescribed jihad to spread Islam, to remove the obstacles that confront callers in the path of calling to the truth, and to restrain those who are tempted to harm the callers to it and to aggress against them; so that there be no fitnah (trial, discord or temptation), and security prevails, and peace becomes widespread, and the word of Allah is the highest, and the word of disbelief is the lowest, and people enter into the religion of Allah in groups. Allah the Exalted said:[Al-Anfal 8:39] And He said: [At-Tawbah 9:36] And He said: [At-Tawbah 9:33] And by this it is known that jihad was prescribed to bring people out of darkness into light, and to bring them into the religion of Allah in groups; so that there be no fitnah (trial, discord or temptation), and for the defense
of the domain of Islam as well. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

وَقَاتِلُوهُمْ حَتَّى لاَ تَكُونَ فِتْنَةٌ وَيَكُونَ الدِّينُ كُلُّهُ لِلَّهِ فَإِنِ انْتَهَوْا فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌAnd fight against the disbelievers collectively as they fight against you collectively. And know that Allah is with the righteous [who fear Him].
وَقَاتِلُوا الْمُشْرِكِينَ كَافَّةً كَمَا يُقَاتِلُونَكُمْ كَافَّةً وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَ الْمُتَّقِينَIt is He who has sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth to manifest it over all religion, although they who associate others with Allah dislike it.
هُوَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلَ رَسُولَهُ بِالْهُدَى وَدِينِ الْحَقِّ لِيُظْهِرَهُ عَلَى الدِّينِ كُلِّهِ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْمُشْرِكُونَof the domain of Islam as well. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
