The night prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fourth question of Fatwa No. ( 3686 )
Q4: In the hadith, it is stated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray four rak'ahs, and you are not to ask about their excellence. Did he separate them with the tashahhud or not?
A: He (peace and blessings be upon him) used to begin the night prayer with two rak'ahs, then he would pray. It is established from 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said:
He would pray four rak'ahs. Do not ask about their elegance and length. He then would pray for rak'ahs. Do not ask about their alegance and length. Then he would pray three rak'ahs.كان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يصلي في رمضان أربعًا فلا تسأل عن حسنهن وطولهن ثم يصلي أربعًا فلا تسأل عن حسنهن وطولهن ثم يصلي ثلاثًا
Sunan Abi Dawud 1341Sahih (Al-Albani)
It was narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim, and in a narration from her (may Allah be pleased with her) by both of them, she said:
He (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray ten rak'ahs, saying the closing salam after every two, and he would perform witr with one rak'ah.كان صلى الله عليه وسلم يصلي عشر ركعات يسلم من كل اثنتين ويوتر بواحدة
This wording explains the one before it, and from it it is known that he separated every two rak'ahs with a tashahhud and a taslim. This is the predominant practice of his (peace and blessings be upon him). Other types of his (peace and blessings be upon him) prayer in the tahajjud are also established, which Muslim mentioned in his Sahih and others. Refer to them if you wish. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
