The sixth question of Fatwa No. ( 6914 )
Q6: Several hadiths have been reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), including the hadith of Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him and his father), who said:
I remember ten Rakat of Nawafil from the Prophet, two Rakat before the Zuhr prayer and two after it; two Rakat after Maghrib prayer in his house, and two Rakat after 'Isha' prayer in his house, and two Rakat before the Fajr prayerحفظت من النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم عشر ركعات، ركعتين قبل الظهر، وركعتين بعدها، وركعتين بعد المغرب في بيته، وركعتين بعد العشاء في بيته وركعتين قبل صلاة الصبح
Sahih al-Bukhari 1180, 1181
. It was narrated by al-Bukhari. And from Umm Habibah, the daughter of Abu Sufyan, that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
A house will be built in paradise for anyone who prays in a day and a night twelve rak'as , four before and two after the noon prayer, two after the sunset prayer, two after the evening prayer, and two before the dawn prayer.
Mishkat al-Masabih 1159
It was narrated by al-Tirmidhi, and he said: Good and authentic. Do the two rak'ahs of the greeting of the mosque fall within the rak'ahs mentioned in these two hadiths? And likewise, do the two rak'ahs after 'Isha' refer to the two rak'ahs of the witr?

A6: The pre-prayer rawatib suffice for the greeting of the mosque; because the intention is that one should not sit in the mosque before performing a prayer. So if one performs the rawatib, that suffices. Likewise, if one arrives and the iqamah has been called, the obligatory prayer suffices for the greeting of the mosque. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
