The Ruling on the Prostration of Recitation

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The third question of Fatwa No. ( 7900 )
Q3: What is the ruling on the prostration of recitation, and does it have a closing salam or not, if the person is reciting and not praying? What is its supplication? And if the person is praying and the prostration of recitation is at the end of a surah, is he required to read what is easy of the next surah after the prostration and before bowing, or does he bow directly?
A3: The prostration of recitation is a recommended practice (sunnah), and no text has come regarding the salam from it, so there is no salam required from the one who prostrates to it. It is not required of the one who prostrates for a prostration verse at the end of a surah such as (Al-A'raf), (An-Najm), and (Iqra) while he is in prayer to read the Qur'an after it and before bowing. If he reads, there is no harm. He says in his prostration for recitation what he says in his prostration for prayer. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
