The questioner : He says: May the Shaykh be respected, we ask you to give us your opinion regarding the pilgrims who stay in al-Aziziyah and go to Mina, spending the middle of the night there. Do they thereby fulfill the obligation of staying overnight?
The Shaykh : Yes. According to the rules of the jurists (may Allah have mercy on them), they have fulfilled the obligation, because they say that staying in Mina is obligatory only at night. If a person spends most of the night in Mina, he has fulfilled the obligation. However, there is no doubt that this is deficient, for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stayed in Mina both night and day. Staying in Mina night and day is an act of worship. What is the matter... or is it a leisure trip? It is an act of worship to Allah; a person worships Allah (Mighty and Majestic) by staying, such that he sees in every minute that passes that he has drawn near to Allah by it. As long as a person feels that his staying in Mina is a means of drawing near to Allah, it becomes easy for him to stay, even if it involves hardship. But the thing that harms a person and causes him pain is not what he is commanded to do.
Brother Eid, we give you two questions, which are the last questions. Two consecutive questions.
