The third question of Fatwa No. ( 6573 )
Q3: What is the Committee’s opinion regarding a person who has already paid his zakah? Is it permissible for him to pay taxes from it? Is it valid or not?
A3: It is not permissible to deduct the taxes that owners of wealth pay on their wealth from the zakah due on that wealth. Rather, it is obligatory for him to pay the prescribed zakah and spend it in its lawful channels, which the Exalted and Glorious Allah specified in His saying:[At-Tawbah 9:60] the verse. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
