Date Palms in Houses and the Zakah of Barhi
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first and second questions from Fatwa number ( 13502 )
Q1: There are a number of date palms in the houses we have in al-Qasim , and their fruit far exceeds the nisab. They are watered with their drinking water, and most of the people use their own effort and money to water them. The owner of the house eats from them, gives them to relatives and others, and stores his needs for a year, but he has not paid any zakah on them. Please rule on what will absolve his conscience.
A1: If the matter is as described, then half of one-tenth is obligatory on the fruit of the aforementioned date palms, because they are watered at a cost. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
