Fatwa No. ( 1838 )
Q: I am an old woman now, and I have no son or daughter. When I was half my current age, and when my father passed away, he gave me one franc, and told me: “This franc is for one of the people of Shaqra,” but he did not mention his name, or he mentioned it and I forgot it. I spent the franc until it reached four francs, and because the man could not be found, I gave charity in place of the four francs, which was five riyals at the present time, knowing that I had eaten the four francs. I ask you to inform me of a solution to clear my conscience.
A: You must give charity in the value of four francs in cash, with the intention that it is for its owner, and you should count the five riyals you gave out of that amount.
