Fasting for a woman suffering from uterine bleeding
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 5753 )
Q: My wife was unable to fast the noble month of Ramadan in the year 1401 AH because she suffered from an illness that caused her to experience bleeding in her reproductive organs. She was unable to make up the fast before the arrival of the noble month of Ramadan in the year 1402 AH because she was undergoing treatment during that period until the bleeding stopped, praise be to Allah. Therefore, we ask your eminence to inform us whether she should make it up by fasting or by paying a ransom? Please note that she has already fasted Ramadan in the year 1402 AH.
A: It is obligatory for her to make up all the days she missed from Ramadan in the year 1401 AH and was unable to fast until Ramadan of the year 1402 AH overtook her. Allah the Exalted said:[Al-Baqarah 2:185]
And a ransom is not sufficient for her. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

and whoever is ill or on a journey - then an equal number of other days. Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship
And a ransom is not sufficient for her.
