Placing a bouquet of flowers on the grave of the Unknown Soldier

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 6166 )
Q: Placing a bouquet of flowers on the grave of the Unknown Soldier: does this fall under the same ruling as the actions of those who exalted their awliya (close friends of Allah) and righteous people to the point of worshipping them?
A: This action is a bid'ah (religious innovation) and an exaggeration regarding the dead. It is similar to the actions of those people regarding their righteous ones in terms of exalting them and adopting symbols for them. It is feared that over time, this will lead to building domes over their graves, seeking blessing from them, and taking them as awliya (close friends of Allah) other than Allah. Therefore, it must be prevented to block the means to shirk (associating partners with Allah). And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
