Giving the reward of prayer to the deceased

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first and second questions of Fatwa No. ( 7482 )
Q1: Is it valid for me to pray a certain number of rak'ahs at any time, then give its reward to the deceased, and does its reward reach him or not?
A1: It is not permissible to give the reward of what you prayed to the deceased; rather, it is a religious innovation (bid'ah) because it is not established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) nor from the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
'A'isha reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: He who innovates things in our affairs for which there is no valid (reason) (commits sin) and these are to be rejected.من أحدث في أمرنا هذا ما ليس منه فهو رد
Sahih Muslim 1718a
narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim . And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
