Does the reward for reciting the Qur'an reach the deceased?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: Does the reward for reciting the Qur'an reach the deceased, and what is the text of the hadith in which it is said: O Messenger of Allah! What remains of the kindness to my parents after their death?

Answer: As far as we know, there is no evidence indicating that it is recommended to recite the Qur'an for the dead. Therefore, the safest course is to refrain from doing so and to limit oneself to what Allah has prescribed, such as making supplication for them, giving charity on their behalf, and other matters established in the pure Shari'ah, such as performing Hajj and 'Umrah and paying off their debts, for this benefits them.
As for the hadith you asked about, its wording is: A man said, "O Messenger of Allah, is there anything left of the kindness to my parents that I can do for them?" He said:
Yes, you can invoke blessings on them, forgiveness for them, carry out their final instructions after their death, join ties of relationship which are dependent on them, and honour their friends.نعم الصلاة عليهما، والاستغفار لهما، وإنفاذ عهدهما من بعدهما، وإكرام صديقهما، وصلة الرحم التي لا توصل إلا بهما
Sunan Abi Dawud 5142Da'if (Al-Albani)
And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (ceaseless charity); a knowledge which is beneficial, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him (for the deceased).إذا مات ابن آدم انقطع عمله إلا من ثلاث: صدقة جارية أو علم ينتفع به أو ولد صالح يدعوا له
Riyad as-Salihin 1383
It was narrated by Muslim in his Sahih. And in the two Sahihs, it is narrated that a man said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "O Messenger of Allah, my mother died and she did not make a bequest, and I think that if she had been able to speak, she would have given charity. Will she receive a reward if I give charity on her behalf?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
