Fatwa number ( 13089 )
Q: When contracting a marriage, are there verses with which one seeks refuge at the time of the contract? Also, when it comes to naming the newborn, are there verses with which they seek refuge? You must explain this to me in detail. Also, regarding the ghusl for major ritual impurity, are there verses to be recited during the ghusl for major ritual impurity?
A: Praise be to Allah alone, and blessings and peace be upon His Messenger, his family, and his Companions... After that: First: It is recommended to deliver a sermon before the marriage contract, the sermon of Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), in which he said:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) taught us the tashahhud for the need: "Indeed, all praise is due to Allah. We praise Him, seek His help, and seek His forgiveness. And we seek refuge in Allah from the evil of our own selves and from our bad deeds. Whoever Allah guides, none can misguide, and whom He leaves to misguide, none can guide. And I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger." And three verses are recited: "O you who believe! Fear Allah as He should be feared, and do not die except as Muslims." And His saying, the Exalted: "O mankind! Fear your Lord, who created you from one soul and created from it its mate, and dispersed from both of them many men and women. And fear Allah, through whom you ask one another, and the wombs. Indeed, Allah is ever a Witness over you." And His saying, Mighty and Majestic: "O you who believe! Fear Allah and speak a word appropriate. (70) He will amend your deeds and forgive you your sins. And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has attained a great attainment."
It was narrated by al-Tirmidhi , and it was also narrated by Abu Dawud and al-Nasa'i and al-Hakim and al-Bayhaqi . Second: It is recommended to name the newborn with a good name, and that is on the seventh day, and to sacrifice two equivalent sheep for a boy, and one sheep for a girl, and the best time is on the seventh day; for what was narrated by Abu Dawud and al-Nasa'i and Ibn Majah and al-Tirmidhi from Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
A boy is in pledge for his Aqiqah, Sacrifice is made for him on the seventh day, his head is shaved and he is given name.
Sunan Abi Dawud 2838Sahih (Al-Albani)
, and al-Tirmidhi said: "A good, authentic hadith." Third: What is prescribed when performing the full ritual bath from major ritual impurity is: to say the name of Allah, then to clean oneself after relieving oneself, then to perform the ablution for prayer, then to perform the full ritual bath for major ritual impurity, then to say
after finishing: "I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger. O Allah, make me among those who repent, and make me among those who purify themselves." This dhikr is said after every obligatory wudu' or ghusl. There are no verses to be recited when naming the newborn or when performing ghusl for major ritual impurity. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
