Fatwa No. ( 5186 )
Q: It is not hidden from Your Eminence that it is not narrated in the era of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), nor the Caliphs, nor the Successors and those who followed them, and the righteous Salaf, that a sermon or exhortation was delivered immediately after the Friday prayer. It is also not hidden from Your Eminence what came in the authentic hadith:Sahih Muslim 1718a, and: Sahih Muslim 1718b, and the hadith: . More important than all of that is the saying of the Exalted: [Al-Jumu'ah 62:10]. And whoever exhorts immediately after the prayer enters into disobedience to the command of Allah, such that the command to disperse is not carried out; for all of this, I seek your fatwa with what you devote to Allah: Is it permissible to deliver a sermon or exhortation after the Friday prayer? Do not understand from this that we dislike exhortation after the other obligatory prayers, for we support it and prefer it. May Allah preserve you and protect you.
A: We do not know of any evidence indicating the prohibition of exhortation after the prayer. It is known that the motivations for delivering an exhortation vary according to the circumstances of the one delivering it, the need of the people for it, and the circumstances of the imams who deliver the sermons. As for the verse you mentioned, it does not conflict with delivering an exhortation. So if one wishes to sit and listen, or if one wishes to leave, the matter in that regard is
broad. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

'A'isha reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: He who innovates things in our affairs for which there is no valid (reason) (commits sin) and these are to be rejected.
من أحدث في أمرنا هذا ما ليس منه فهو ردHe who did any act for which there is no sanction from our behalf, that is to be rejected.
