The Ruling on Preaching After the Friday Prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner, Sa'd 'Abd al-Wahhab, from Khamis Mushayt, says: I prayed one of the Friday prayers in one of the mosques in one of the villages. When the khatib finished the sermon and came down to begin the prayer, I saw him appoint another person to lead the prayer in his place. When the prayer was over, the other person delivered a sermon for ten minutes. When we left the mosque, one of the worshippers told me that this is not permissible, saying it is a sermon after a sermon; therefore, he did not sit to listen to it. Is this correct, O honorable Shaykh?

Answer:
There is no harm if someone other than the khatib leads the Friday prayer. There is no harm. If the khatib sees fit to appoint someone to lead the Friday prayer, there is nothing wrong with it.
And if a person preaches after the Friday prayer, there is no harm. The one who says, "A sermon after a sermon," has no knowledge. If a preacher preaches after the Friday prayer, or a reminder is given after the Friday prayer, there is no harm. And praise be to Allah. Yes.
