The eleventh question of Fatwa No. ( 18612 )
Q11: Allah the Exalted said in Surat al-Jumu'ah:[Al-Jumu'ah 62:10] Does holding a lesson after the Friday prayer conflict with the guidance of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) in the verse? And does the Monday prayer have the reward of congregational prayer, or is it like the prayer of a single person (individual) in reward?
A11: First: We are not aware of any evidence that prohibits preaching after the Friday prayer, and it is known that the motivations for delivering a sermon vary according to circumstances. As for the verse of the Friday prayer that you cited, it does not conflict with delivering a sermon; whoever wishes to sit and listen may sit, and whoever wishes to leave may do so, and there is no blame on him in that, for the matter is broad in this regard, and praise be to Allah. However, it is wise not to deliver a sermon after the Friday khutbah if there is no need for it, for the khutbah is a sermon and it has already preceded, so it should not be repeated. It is known that when sermons and addresses become numerous and continuous, they are disliked, and this diminishes their status
and their impact on the hearts, unless there is a need for it, in which case there is nothing wrong with it. Second: The Monday prayer and those above it are congregational, but the more the number increases, the more the virtue and reward increase. Nevertheless, it is obligatory to perform the prayer in congregation in the mosque with the people, and it is not permissible to be absent from that; due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Bulugh al-Maram 2:308 It was narrated by Ibn Majah and al-Daraqutni and a group of others with a sound chain. And Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) was asked about the excuse, and he said: fear or illness. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
Q11: Allah the Exalted said in Surat al-Jumu'ah:
And when the prayer has been concluded, disperse within the land
