The fourth question of Fatwa No. ( 5433 )
Q4: So who are those of sound judgment and understanding? Please inform us, may Allah reward you with the best reward and recompense.
A4: The hadith was narrated by Ahmad and Muslim and Abu Dawud and al-Tirmidhi from Abu Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:Mishkat al-Masabih 1088 . Those of sound judgment and understanding: It was said that their meaning is the same, and what is intended by them is the people of intellect. It was also said that those of sound judgment are the adults, and those of understanding are the people of intellect. The meaning of the hadith is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered those who pray with him in congregation to have the adults of sound intellect among them behind him in the first row, so that they may understand his prayer from him,
and so that they may succeed him in leading the prayer if something happens to him in his prayer that necessitates it, and so that they may alert him if he forgets or if something unexpected occurs in his prayer; so that he may return to their statement. Al-hayshat: The plural of hayshah, which is disagreement, commingling, and raising voices, and what is intended is the prohibition of disagreement, noise, and raising voices, as in the markets. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
Q4:
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would straighten the rows and say to the Companions: Straighten your rows and do not differ, and let those of you who are of sound judgment and understanding be closest to me.
كان النبي عليه الصلاة والسلام يسوي الصفوف ويقول للصحابة: استووا ولا تختلفوا وليلني منكم أولوا الأحلام والنهىA4: The hadith was narrated by Ahmad and Muslim and Abu Dawud and al-Tirmidhi from Abu Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
Let those of you who are sedate and prudent be near me, then those who are next to them, then those who are next to them
ليلني منكم أولوا الأحلام والنهى، ثم الذين يلونهم، ثم الذين يلونهم، وإياكم وهيشات الأسواقand so that they may succeed him in leading the prayer if something happens to him in his prayer that necessitates it, and so that they may alert him if he forgets or if something unexpected occurs in his prayer; so that he may return to their statement.
