Wiping the outer and inner parts of the ears

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa number ( 9299 )
Q 1: Our brothers in the Republic of Mali have differed regarding wiping the ears in
the ablution, with some saying: It is not established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he wiped his ears in the ablution.

J 1: All praise is due to Allah alone, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger, his family, and his Companions. And after: It is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he wiped his head and his ears in the ablution. Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated:
the Prophet wiped his head and also the inside of his ears with his forefingers and the outside with his thumbsأن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم: مسح برأسه وأذنيه ظاهرهما وباطنهما
Mishkat al-Masabih 413
It was narrated by al-Tirmidhi and he graded it authentic, and by al-Nasa'i :
He wiped his head and his ears, their inner parts with his two index fingers, and their outer parts with his two thumbsمسح برأسه وأذنيه باطنهما بالمسبحتين، وظاهرهما بإبهاميه
, and Ibn Khuzaymah graded it authentic. Abu Dawud and al-Tahawi also narrated it from the hadith of Muqdam ibn Ma'dikarib,
That the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) wiped his head and his ears in his ablution, both their outer and inner parts, and inserted his two fingers into the cavities of his earsأن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: مسح في وضوئه رأسه وأذنيه ظاهرهما وباطنهما، وأدخل أصبعيه في صماخي أذنيه
. Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar said: (And its chain is good). We are not aware of any disagreement regarding the prescription of wiping the ears; the disagreement is only over whether they are part of the head or not, and over whether wiping them is obligatory or a recommended practice.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
