Q 12: A man's awrah (part of the body that must be covered) is from the navel to the knee. What is the ruling on his performing wudu' (the ablution for prayer) while naked, or while wearing short trousers that do not cover his knee?
A 12: Praise be to Allah alone, and blessings and peace be upon His Messenger, his family, and his Companions... To proceed: His wudu' (the ablution for prayer) is valid (sahih); because exposing the awrah (part of the body that must be covered) and wearing short trousers do not prevent the validity of the wudu' (the ablution for prayer). However, it is forbidden (haram) for him to expose his awrah (part of the body that must be covered) in the presence of anyone other than his wife or his slave woman, who is the female slave owned by him with whom he is permitted to have sexual relations.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
