On the topic of women's clothing: A woman raises her garment from the bottom and wears a slit dress from the back or the sides

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : A questioner says: O Shaykh, regarding the topic of women's clothing: A woman raises her garment from the bottom and wears a slit dress from the back or the sides. Recently, a new fashion has appeared, which is exposing the upper body, the chest, the shoulders, and the upper back, so that nothing covers her, on the pretext that this is in front of women, and that a woman with another woman is only required to cover the major private parts. Is this action and statement true or false? And what is the role of men and righteous women?

The Shaykh : This is a wrong understanding, and it is a false statement for a woman to say: "A woman in front of other women exposes everything except the major private parts." Who said this? This is not even the clothing of the disbelievers—may Allah protect us from that. Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The clothing of the women of the Companions in their homes was a garment that covered from the hand—the hand itself—to the ankle—the ankle of the foot—in the homes. When she went out, she wore gloves to cover what? The hands. And she let the hem of her garment hang down to a span or an arm's length so that her feet would not be exposed. This was the clothing of the Companions. It is not possible to find among the Companions, or to have it narrated from the Companions, that a woman wears something that covers only what is between the navel and the knee, never. If a person visualizes this image, he would find it hideous, meaning: the woman exposes her breast, her shoulders, and her upper back. Who says this? But the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
No woman should look at the nakedness of another woman لا تنظر المرأة إلى عورة المرأة
Sunan Ibn Majah 661Sahih (Darussalam)
This means that she should not intentionally look at the private parts if the woman being looked at exposes them out of necessity, such as if she is urinating, for example. It is not permissible for the other woman to look at her in this state, because she is looking at a private part. And if Allah (Mighty and Majestic) says:
And let them not stamp their feet to make known what they conceal of their adornment وَلا يَضْرِبْنَ بِأَرْجُلِهِنَّ لِيُعْلَمَ مَا يُخْفِينَ مِنْ زِينَتِهِنّ
[An-Nur 24:31]
This indicates that the garment reaches where? To what place? The anklets. What they hide of their adornment is the anklets on the foot, and with what do they hide it? With the garment. This is evidence that the garments of the women of the Companions reached the ankle, so she does not strike her foot so that people know what she hides of her adornment, because this is a trial.
Yes.
