Sitting Between the Two Prostrations
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The tenth question of Fatwa No. ( 8966 )
Q10: What is the manner of sitting between the two prostrations during prayer ? Does the one praying sit on his buttocks touching the ground with his left leg under his right shin, or how? I also ask for clarification on how to sit for the first tashahhud and the final tashahhud, in detail?
A10 : It is the Sunnah to sit on one’s left leg with the right foot upright between the two prostrations, and likewise in the first tashahhud. As for the final tashahhud, the Sunnah is to sit in the tawruk position; that is, to place the left foot under the right shin and sit on the buttocks. All of this is recommended. If the one praying sits in the tawruk position in the first tashahhud and sits on his left leg in the final tashahhud, his prayer is not invalidated. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
