Q4: What is the ruling on reciting the Basmala in prayer ? Some students said that the Imam Malik forbade it in prayer?
A4: Reciting the Basmala at the beginning of al-Fatihah in prayer is a matter of disagreement among jurists, even within the school of Malik ibn Anas . The correct view is that it is recited quietly at the beginning of al-Fatihah in the prayers where recitation is loud. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
