Fatwa No. ( 868 )
Q: What is the ruling on one who collects the manure of livestock of all kinds in the cemetery, and on the graves, knowing that the grave markers are clear, for the purpose of placing it in the farm as fertilizer after a year or two, given that the last person buried in that cemetery was buried approximately twenty-five to thirty years ago? Is this permissible or not permissible?
A: It is not permissible to place the manure of livestock of all kinds in the cemetery, or on the graves, because of the disrespect it entails for those buried therein. It is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that heSahih Muslim 970a , narrated by Muslim and al-Tirmidhi , who said it is a good, authentic hadith. It is also established that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1050Sahih (Darussalam) . Narrated by Muslim, If sitting or sitting on the graves is prohibited, whether without urinating or defecating or with some of that, then collecting manure on them is also prohibited; because of the disrespect it entails for the dead within them, and because the sanctity of a Muslim after his death is like his sanctity while he is alive.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
