Uncovering the face of the deceased when burying him
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The third question of Fatwa No. ( 5637 )
Q3: When the deceased is placed in his grave, whether male or female, should his face be uncovered in the grave or not? If there is evidence regarding uncovering the face or covering it, we request that it be written.
A3: We do not know of any evidence indicating that the face of the deceased should be uncovered in the grave; rather, the apparent meaning of the Shari'ah evidence indicates that it should not be uncovered, whether the deceased is male or female; because the original ruling is to cover the face like the rest of his body, except if the man is in a state of ihram, in which case his head and face are not covered.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
