The Prayer for Rain and the Two Festivals in a Field Where Bid'ah Celebrations Are Held
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 8340 )
Q1: We have a public field where the Prophet's birthday celebration is held. Is it permissible to perform the festival prayer or the prayer for rain there?
A1: It is permissible to perform the prayer for rain and the two festival prayers there, and if it is easier to perform the prayer elsewhere, that is preferable. Be aware that celebrating birthdays is a religious innovation (bid'ah) that must be abandoned; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not do it, nor did his Rightly Guided Caliphs, nor the rest of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them), nor their followers with excellence in the three best centuries. And because it is one of the means of extremism and associating partners with Allah (shirk) regarding the person whose birthday is being celebrated. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
