Celebrating the Mawlid and the Middle of Sha'ban

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 5738 ):
Q1: Celebrations for religious festivals: the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) Mawlid, the middle of Sha'ban, etc., according to the occasions, is that permissible?
A1 : (a) Celebrating innovative festivals is not permissible. (b) In the Sunnah, there are two festivals: 'Id al-Adha and 'Id al-Fitr. It is prescribed in both to display joy and happiness, and to do what Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) has prescribed in them, such as prayer and others. However, what Allah (Mighty and Majestic) has forbidden is not made permissible in them. (c) It is not permissible to hold a celebration for the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) Mawlid, nor for the Mawlid of anyone else; because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) did not do that and did not prescribe it for his Ummah. Likewise, his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) did not do it. Likewise, the Salaf of the Ummah after them in the blessed centuries did not do it. All good lies in following them. (d) Celebrating the night of the middle of Sha'ban is a religious innovation. Likewise, celebrating the night of the twenty-seventh of Rajab, which some people call
the Night of the Isra and Mi'raj, as mentioned in paragraph (c). May Allah help us. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
