The Muslim's Position Regarding Political Parties
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fourth question of Fatwa No. ( 6290 )
Q4: Some people are Muslims, but they join political parties, and among these parties are some that are affiliated with Russia or affiliated with America , and these parties are numerous and branched out; such as: the Party of Progress and Socialism, the Independence Party, the Free Party - the Ummah Party - the Independence Youth Party, the Democratic Party.., and other parties that are similar to one another. What is the position of Islam regarding these parties, and regarding the Muslim who joins these parties? Is his Islam valid?
A4: Whoever has insight in Islam, strong faith, Islamic immunity, foresight regarding consequences, and eloquence of tongue, and is able to influence the course of the party to direct it in an Islamic direction - then he may
associate with these parties, or associate with the most hopeful of them to accept the truth; perhaps Allah will benefit through him, and guide by his hand whom He wills, so that they leave the current of deviant policies for a just, lawful policy that unites the community, so that they follow the straight path and the straight road. But he must not commit to their deviant principles. And whoever does not have that faith and that immunity, and fears that he will be affected but will not affect others, let him isolate himself from those parties; to avoid fitnah (trial, discord or temptation) and to preserve his religion from being afflicted with what afflicted them, and being tested with what they were tested with of deviation and corruption. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
