Calling to Allah with wisdom and good exhortation
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fifth question of Fatwa No. ( 17743 )
Q5: We accepted Islam in the entire village, but half of the houses in the village contain idols. We tried to get them to abandon these idols, but they did not respond. We entered every house to break those idols, and a fight broke out in which one of us was killed. Is this considered jihad, or is the deceased a martyr?
A5: You must call people to Allah with wisdom and good exhortation, and argue in the best manner, in accordance with the saying of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He):[An-Nahl 16:125] Avoid the path of violence, harshness, and severity toward those being called, for that drives people away from accepting the call. This includes breaking idols without authority; for breaking them by force is not done by anyone but one who has authority, in order to avert fitnah (trial, discord or temptation) and prevent chaos.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and companions.
