The second question of Fatwa No. ( 16920 )
Q2: If I admonish my brothers and warn them against some sins, but I myself fall into these sins; am I considered a hypocrite? Please inform us, may Allah reward you with good.
A2: It is obligatory for you to repent from the sins and to admonish your brothers against them, and it is not permissible for you to persist in the sins and leave off advising your brothers; because this is combining two sins. So you must repent to Allah for that, along with advising your brothers, and you are not thereby a hypocrite, but you fall into what Allah has condemned and criticized in His saying, the Exalted:[As-Saf 61:2-3] and in His saying, the Exalted: [Al-Baqarah 2:44] And success is from Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

(2) O you who have believed, why do you say what you do not do? (3) Great is hatred in the sight of Allah that you say what you do not do.
Do you order righteousness of the people and forget yourselves while you recite the Scripture? Then will you not reason?
