The Effect of Drinking Intoxicants on the Prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 12082 )
Q1: Is the prayer valid if a Muslim drinks intoxicants and does not refrain from them while knowing their prohibition, and does the prayer have a role in this?
A1: It is forbidden to drink intoxicants absolutely, at any time. Allah the Exalted said:
indeed, intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing on] stone alters [to other than Allah], and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful.
[Al-Ma'idah 5:90]
And if a person prays while intoxicated and not in his right mind, his prayer is not valid, and it is obligatory for him to repeat it. And if he is not intoxicated, his prayer is valid.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and companions.
