The Pronouncement and Secrecy of the Basmala at the Beginning of the Prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fourth question of Fatwa No. ( 2428 )
Q4: Did the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) begin his prayer with
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Mercifulبِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
or with
[All] praise is [due] to Allah, Lord of the worlds -الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
[Al-Fatihah 1:2]
?

A4: We do not know of any evidence indicating that he (peace and blessings be upon him) began his recitation in the loud prayers with "Bismillah al-Rahman al-Rahim" aloud. What the authentic hadiths indicate is that he began them with "Alhamdulillah Rabb al-'Alamin" aloud and kept the Basmala secret. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
