The first and second questions of Fatwa No. ( 11967 )
Q: 1- Is it permissible to build a mosque or convert a building into a mosque in an area or city where it is expected that the Muslims will leave after a while? Since in America Muslim students establish a mosque in a certain area, and when they graduate and return to their countries, the mosque remains abandoned or nearly abandoned?
A1: A building may be built or converted into a mosque; because of the public benefit for the Muslims present, because of the display of the symbols of Islam, and because of the hope that Muslims will increase and some of the people of the country will enter Islam as a result.
