General guidelines for the family at the beginning of the school year.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and I send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment.
Then, I thank Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, for making it easy to return to this blessed meeting after the break. This is the meeting that takes place every month in the Great Mosque in Unaizah on the evening of the first Saturday, right? Yes, on the evening of the third Saturday of the month. And this night is the night of Sunday, the twenty-second of the month of Jumada al-Ula in the year 1419.
I remind my brothers that, if Allah wills, a booklet will be distributed after the end of the meeting. It is a small booklet containing the Three Fundamental Principles and their Evidence, the Important Lessons for the General Muslim Community, and the Description of Hajj and 'Umrah. This will be after the end of the meeting, if Allah wills.
I say: It was planned that we would continue speaking about transactions, but given the arrival of the new school year, it is perhaps better that we speak about this topic. So I say: Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, has made our families a trust with us, and has made it obligatory upon us to care for them. And He, Mighty and Majestic, said:
O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا قُوا أَنْفُسَكُمْ وَأَهْلِيكُمْ نَاراً وَقُودُهَا النَّاسُ وَالْحِجَارَةُ
[At-Tahrim 66:6]
And our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
and a man is a guardian of his family and is responsible for his charges الرجل راع في أهله ومسئول عن رعيته
Sahih al-Bukhari 2751
And who is the one who will question him? The one who will question him is Allah, Mighty and Majestic, and that is on the Day of Resurrection when he will find no escape from the questioning. And it is obligatory for a man regarding his family, whether wives, sons, daughters, or others, to check on their conditions, because they are always exposed to danger, neglect, and heedlessness. And because if he monitors them and follows up on their conditions, affection and closeness will be established between him and them. Most people today—and I seek forgiveness from Allah if I say "most"—neglect their children, both sons and daughters. They do not ask the son: Where did you go? Who was your companion? Who was your friend? What did you do in your school assignments? And this is a mistake. And the student must strive to start studying from the beginning of the year, because if he neglects striving at the beginning of the year, the information will accumulate on him and he will be unable to digest it in the future. But if he takes each lesson at its time, reviews it, and takes his time with it, it will be easy for him to review it at the end of the year, because the lesson will have become firmly established in his mind, making review easy for him and the result will be good. But if he neglects it and wishes for Allah's promises, saying: "I have plenty of time and we are at the beginning of the year," then his time will be wasted, and he will ultimately be unable to digest the knowledge.
And let him know that the purpose of learning is not for a person to carry a certificate card. The purpose of learning is to grasp the knowledge. As for this card, even though it is an apparent measure in our era, it does not benefit the person in any way. This is one point, the summary of which is: I urge the young students to address their affairs from the beginning of the year, and I urge their guardians to monitor them and look into their conditions: who are their friends? Where do they go? And when do they return?
