Fatwa number ( 5628 ):
Q: What is the ruling in Islam regarding these people, and are they considered disbelievers? 1 - The one who says: "I do not believe in the Noble Qur'an or in a single verse from it." Is he considered a disbeliever?
2 - The one who says: "I believe only with my intellect." 3 - The one who says to a person: "You have committed apostasy from Islam" because he went out with a woman who displays her adornment. 4 - The one who says: "I am in no need of such-and-such a tafsir or others." 5 - The one who prayed Jumu'ah with his family in his house—meaning his home—and delivered the khutbah to them, claiming that he performed Jumu'ah at home. Is his prayer valid? 6 - The one who says to a person: "Why don't you let the down grow on your face instead of a beard?" Is that considered mocking the Sunnah? Because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: . 7 - Despite these things, he was stubborn and did not return to Allah. Is the one who is stubborn against the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Prophet considered a disbeliever?
A: First: The one who says: "I do not believe in the Noble Qur'an or in a single verse," or that he believes only with his intellect without the Shari'ah, it must be made clear to him that this is disbelief. If he persists in his statement, he is a disbeliever who has committed apostasy from Islam. He is to be called to repent by the authorities. If he repents, well and good; otherwise, he is to be killed as an apostate. This is because belief in the Qur'an is a pillar of faith, and denying a single verse from it is like denying it all; there is no difference in that. And the one who limits himself to his intellect and rejects what has come from the Shari'ah has committed disbelief regarding the Noble Qur'an and the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him).
Second: Going out with a woman who displays her adornment is not disbelief, but it is a sin; because it is one of the means to committing fornication. However, this person who went out with the woman who displays her adornment should be advised, perhaps Allah will guide him. Third: Tafsirs of the Qur'an differ; some must be abandoned, and some are foundations relied upon in understanding the Qur'an, such as [the tafsir of Ibn Jarir al-Tabari , and Ibn Kathir ]. It has not become clear to us which tafsir the person you mentioned is in no need of, so we cannot answer you about it. Fourth: The one who prays Jumu'ah with his family in his house, they must repeat it as Zuhr, and their Jumu'ah prayer is not valid. This is because it is obligatory for men to pray Jumu'ah with their Muslim brothers in the houses of Allah the Exalted. As for women, Jumu'ah is not obligatory upon them, and it is obligatory for them to pray Zuhr. However, if they attend it with the men in the mosque, it suffices for them in place of Zuhr. Fifth: As for what concerns the beard, a fatwa has been issued by us, the text of which is: Shaving the beard is forbidden; based on what was narrated by Ahmad, al-Bukhari , and Muslim , and others, from Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:Sahih al-Bukhari 5892 , and what was narrated by Ahmad and Muslim from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: Sahih Muslim 260 . Persisting in shaving it is one of the major sins. It is obligatory to advise the one who shaves it and to declare it wrong. This becomes more emphasized if he is in a religious leadership position, and on
this, if he is the imam of the congregation in prayer, and he is advised but does not heed, he must be removed from his position if that is feasible and does not cause fitnah. Otherwise, it is obligatory for those for whom it is feasible to pray behind another person of righteousness; as a deterrent to him and a declaration of his wrong, provided that this does not lead to fitnah. If praying behind another is not feasible, it is prescribed to pray behind him; to realize the benefit of the community. And if it is feared that praying behind another will cause fitnah, one should pray behind him; to avert fitnah and commit the lesser of two harms. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
