Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The eighth question of Fatwa No. ( 6898 ):
Q8: What is the interpretation of the saying of Allah the Exalted:
[He is] Lord of the two sunrises and Lord of the two sunsets.رَبُّ الْمَشْرِقَيْنِ وَرَبُّ الْمَغْرِبَيْنِ
[Ar-Rahman 55:17]
, and His saying:
Lord of the east and the westرَبُّ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ
[Ash-Shu'ara 26:28]
, and His saying:
by the Lord of [all] risings and settingsبِرَبِّ الْمَشَارِقِ وَالْمَغَارِبِ
[Al-Ma'arij 70:40]
?

A8: The meaning of the east and the west in the first verse is: the rising
of the sun south and north of the equator, and its setting south and north of it. The meaning of the east and the west in the second verse is: the direction of the east and the direction of the west in which the sun moves, rising and setting, throughout the seasons. The meaning of the easts and the wests in the third verse is: the rising points and setting points of the sun every day, east and west. Thus, the texts are reconciled. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
