The Prayer for Rain and Its Characteristics.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, the Seal of the Prophets and the Imam of the Pious, and upon his family and his Companions, and those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment.
As for what follows:
This is the sixtieth meeting of the monthly gatherings held in the Grand Mosque in Unaizah. This night is the nineteenth of the month of Rajab, 1419 AH. I ask Allah the Exalted to make our gatherings good and their outcome good, for He is capable of all things. Before we begin the topic of this gathering, we will speak about the prayer for rain. The prayer for rain is a recommended practice established by the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) for his Ummah. Istisqa' means seeking rain. It is well known that the One who sends down rain is the Lord, Mighty and Majestic, as Allah Blessed and Exalted is He said:
Indeed, Allah [alone] has knowledge of the Hour and sends down the rain إِنَّ اللَّهَ عِنْدَهُ عِلْمُ السَّاعَةِ وَيُنَزِّلُ الْغَيْثَ
[Luqman 31:34]
. And Allah Mighty and Majestic said:
(68) And have you seen the water that you drink? (69) Is it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down?
[Al-Waqi'ah 56:68-69]
. What is the answer? It is You, our Lord. You are the One who sent it down and made it a blessing, by which You cause every beautiful kind of plant to grow. This rain is distributed by Allah Blessed and Exalted is He wherever He wills, however He wills, in the measure He wills, Mighty and Majestic. Therefore, you find that some lands have abundant rain, some lands are arid, and some are in between. And listen to the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And We have certainly distributed it among them that they might be reminded, but most of the people refuse except disbelief. وَلَقَدْ صَرَّفْنَاهُ بَيْنَهُمْ لِيَذَّكَّرُوا فَأَبَى أَكْثَرُ النَّاسِ إِلاَّ كُفُوراً
[Al-Furqan 25:50]
