Recitation of Surat al-Ikhlas, the two Mu'awwidhat, and Surat al-Fatihah for healing

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 446 ):
Q: Is reciting Surat al-Ikhlas, the two Mu'awwidhat, and Surat al-Fatihah for healing forbidden or permissible, and did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) or any of the righteous predecessors do this? Please inform us.
A: Reciting Surat al-Ikhlas, the two Mu'awwidhat, Surat al-Fatihah, and other chapters of the Qur'an over a sick person is a permissible form of ruqyah (healing by Qur'anic recitation) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prescribed through his own action and his approval of his Companions' actions. Al-Bukhari and Muslim narrated in their authentic collections through the route of Ma'mar from al-Zuhri from Urwah from A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her):
That the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to blow over himself with the Mu'awwidhat—Surat al-Ikhlas and the two Mu'awwidhat—during the illness in which he died. When his condition became severe, I would blow over him with them and wipe him with his own hand for its blessing. Ma'mar said: I asked al-Zuhri how he used to blow? He said: He would blow over his hands and then wipe his face with them.
, and Al-Bukhari narrated through the route of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him)
That a group of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came upon a tribe of the Arabs who did not host them. While they were in that state, the chief of that tribe was bitten by a scorpion. He said: Do you have any medicine or a healer among you? They said: You did not host us, and we will not do so until you make a reward for us. So they made a reward for them of a flock of sheep. He began to recite with the Mother of the Qur'an, gathering his saliva and spitting, and he was cured. They brought the sheep, and they said: We will not take it until we ask the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). So they asked him, and he laughed and said: What makes you think that it is a ruqyah? Take it and make a share for me.
. The first hadith contains the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) recitation of the Mu'awwidhat over himself during his illness, and the second contains his approval of the Companions performing ruqyah with Surat al-Fatihah. And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
