Specifying a particular dhikr for a particular day

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 7515 ):
Q: There are some of the brothers in Pakistan who claim to be Salafis, but they hold gatherings for dhikr and commit to them every Thursday after the 'Asr prayer, always . They imagine that this time is suitable, or even more suitable, for dhikr. As for the method of dhikr, one of them sits in front of them and begins with a slightly loud voice, saying the word: (Allah), and the people around him in the circle repeat after him: Allah, Allah, in a low voice. Then the one in front of them changes it and says: Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah), and they continue after him. Then he changes it to Alhamdulillah (Praise be to Allah), and so on. The brothers imagine that they do this to purify their souls, and they cite some hadiths that mention circles for dhikr. What is the ruling regarding them?
A: If the reality of their situation is as described, namely their commitment to dhikr gatherings after the 'Asr prayer every Thursday, and one of them sitting in front of them and saying the word Allah in a loud voice, and they following him in saying it in a low voice, Allah, Allah, then he moving to the word Subhan Allah – and they following him in it – then to the word Alhamdulillah – and they following him in it – and so on, if the reality of their situation is as described, then they are not Salafis, nor are they of the people of the Sunnah and the community in this action. Rather, they are innovators; because this action in this manner is not established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) nor from the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them). And he said
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
'A'isha reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: He who innovates things in our affairs for which there is no valid (reason) (commits sin) and these are to be rejected.من أحدث في أمرنا هذا ما ليس منه فهو رد
Sahih Muslim 1718a
Narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim . As for the hadiths that came regarding circles of dhikr and gathering for it, the intended meaning is: gatherings of knowledge. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
