Ruling on a reciter standing to recite on Friday before the imam enters
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The sixth question of Fatwa No. ( 2775 ):
Q6: Is it permissible for a reciter to stand in the mosque on Friday before the imam comes out, and when the imam comes out, he sits down, and then the khatib delivers the sermon? Is this part of the etiquette of Friday and its recommended practices, or is it one of the reprehensible religious innovations?
A6: We do not know of any evidence indicating that a reciter stands to recite on Friday before the imam enters while the people listen to him, and when the imam enters, the reciter stops. The original rule in acts of worship is that they must be based on divine legislation. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
He who did any act for which there is no sanction from our behalf, that is to be rejected.
من عمل عملاً ليس عليه أمرنا فهو رد
