Delaying the pre-dawn meal and hastening the breaking of the fast.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Now, the best, my brothers, the best regarding the pre-dawn meal is to delay it, provided you are safe from the appearance of the dawn, meaning make it the last thing before the dawn by a little. As for the saying of some common people: "Abstain five minutes before the dawn," there is no basis for it. Eat until the dawn becomes clear. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had appointed two callers to prayer in Ramadan: one was Bilal and the other was Ibn Umm Maktum. Bilal would call to prayer before the time. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
He calls to wake up your sleepers and to return your standers. إنه يؤذن ليوقظ نائمكم ويرجع قائمكم
. So that the one who is standing returns to eat and the one who is sleeping wakes up.
Eat and drink until you hear the call of Ibn Umm Maktum, who is blind, for he does not call to prayer until the dawn appears. كلوا واشربوا حتى تسمعوا أذان ابن أم مكتوم - وهو أعمى - فإنه لا يؤذن حتى يطلع الفجر
. When the dawn appears, he goes to call to prayer. So there is a gap between the appearance of the dawn and his call. The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) permitted them to eat until they hear the call of Ibn Umm Maktum. Delaying the pre-dawn meal is better. Regarding breaking the fast, is it better to delay it or hasten it? To hasten it, to the extent that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said:
The people will remain upon goodness as long as they hasten to break the fast. لا يزال الناس بخير ما عجلوا الفطر
