The Meaning of Misleading Trials
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 8856 ):
Q: Whatis the meaning of “misleading trials”, and what is the meaning of what some people say: that this trial is from Allah to His servant?
A: First: Misleading trials are the trials that befall people, causing them to deviate from the straight path and preventing them from the straight road, such as doubts that mislead a person from the truth and cause him to deviate from the right course, and such as the callers to evil who mix truth with falsehood and deceive those with weak hearts, luring them with the eloquence and power of expression they have been given, and such as illness or poverty that a person complains about and which causes his chest to feel tight, leading him to be dissatisfied with the divine decree and destiny of Allah, and such as wealth in which many people become arrogant, and Satan speaks to them about it, causing them to be chosen by him and prevented from the straight path, and the like of that which tests a Muslim in his religion or prevents a disbeliever from guidance. Second: A thing may appear on the surface to be a trial and hardship, such as poverty, illness, and the dominance of enemies, but in reality and in the actual state of affairs, it is a gift and a blessing. It may be a cause for repentance to Allah, guidance and success, and a transformation of the person to goodness and ease after he was tight-chested and complaining about life, so that the hardship leads him
to ease, and the affliction to comfort and happiness. Therefore, the Muslim must be patient and turn to Allah to remove the harm, hoping that He will make ease for him in his affair. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
