Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He says:The questioner : Your Eminence, is there any advice for one who watches satellite television during the day or night in Ramadan?
The Shaykh : By Allah, the advice is for the one who occupies himself with it in Ramadan and in other times. And you—may Allah bless you—know what has happened from these satellite dishes in terms of change in society, especially among the youth. A noticeable, clear change. Since this defective device appeared to us, we have felt the change. And its harm is great. I ask Allah the Exalted to empower the government against whoever possesses it so that it is destroyed, because in reality its harm is from the perspective of religion, and from the perspective of morals, and from the perspective of security. From every perspective. So I advise my brothers, the servants of Allah, not to possess it. And whoever has something of it, there is no way for him to get rid of it except by breaking it, because if he gives it as a gift, the other person will use it in sins and he will be the cause. And if he sells it, it is the same. So there is no way for him to be free of it except by breaking it. If he says: “I bought it for dirhams, how can I break it? This is a waste of money?” We say: Wasting money in obedience to Allah is better. And all wealth is only that Allah has granted it to us in order that we perform His obedience. So if we destroy it out of fear of falling into sin, this is a profit and not a destruction. As the exegetes mentioned regarding the saying of Allah Blessed and Exalted is He about Sulayman (peace be upon him) that he occupied himself with the horses, the horses he prepared for jihad, because Sulayman loves jihad without doubt. For this reason he swore that he would go around ninety women, each of whom would give birth to a boy who would fight in the path of Allah. And he loved horses. So they displayed them to him one day, and he became occupied with them until he missed the 'Asr prayer. So he said:[Sad 38:32] meaning: the sun They returned the horses to him [Sad 38:33] because they had occupied him with obedience to Allah. He destroyed them to get rid of their evil. So destroying these satellite dishes and getting rid of their evil is from the obedience of Allah Mighty and Majestic. Yes.
