Entering Paradise by the Grace of Allah, Not by Deed

Machine translationRead the Arabic original

The second question of Fatwa No. ( 1353 ):

Q2: It has come in the hadith that a person will not enter Paradise by the grace of his deeds, but by the grace of Allah the Exalted. I hope you will inform us of further statements on this matter?
A2 : A person does not attain happiness by deeds alone; rather, deeds are a cause. This is indicated by the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Enter Paradise for what you used to do."ادْخُلُوا الْجَنَّةَ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
[An-Nahl 16:32]
. This is the "ba" of cause. As for what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) negated in his saying:
No one will enter Paradise by his deedلن يدخل أحد الجنة بعمله
, this is the "ba" of contrast, as in the phrase "I bought this with this," meaning that deeds are not a sufficient reward or price for entering Paradise. Rather, along with that, the pardon, grace, and mercy of Allah are necessary. By His pardon, He erases sins; by His mercy, He brings forth good; and by His grace, He multiplies good deeds. And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad , his family, and his Companions.
