The Meaning of the Hadith: “None of You Will Enter Paradise by His Deed”

The first message in this episode, Your Eminence, is from our brother Ahmad Shawqi Hasan Ali, an Egyptian teacher in the Kingdom, at Shaddad ibn Aws School in Sarat Ubaydah, Abha. Our brother asks one question, which is somewhat branched out. He says: The Truth, Blessed and Exalted is He, says, I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan: [al-Kahf:107] [al-Kahf:108], and He says, Exalted is He: [al-Sajdah:19], among other verses that clarify the reward of those who believed and did righteous deeds, which are found in the Noble Qur'an. And I have heard a hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in which he says: Sahih Muslim 2816f.
The question is: How do we reconcile the meaning of the noble hadith with the meaning of the noble verses? May Allah guide you.
Answer: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon the Messenger of Allah, upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance.
As for what follows: Praise be to Allah, there is no difference between the verses and the hadiths. Allah, Glorious and Majestic, has made clear that the causes of entering Paradise are their righteous deeds, as He said (peace and blessings be upon him) : [al-Nahl:32] [al-Kahf:107]. There are many verses in this meaning, clarifying that righteous deeds are the causes of entering Paradise, just as vile deeds are the causes of entering the Fire. The hadith clarifies that their entry into Paradise is not by deed alone, but rather it is necessary to have the pardon and mercy of Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He. So they entered it by the cause of their deeds, but what necessitated that was His mercy, Blessed and Exalted is He, and His pardon and forgiveness. For this reason, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sunan Ibn Majah 4201Sahih (Darussalam). The "ba" here is the "ba" of exchange, meaning: it is not the exchange for the deed, but rather it is purely the mercy and pardon of Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He. By that, the acceptance of the deed, entry into Paradise, and safety from the Fire occurred. He is the One who bestowed the strength for the deed, facilitated the deed, and helped with it, so all good is from Him, Blessed and Exalted is He. Then He bestowed the entry of the servant into Paradise and his safety from the Fire by the cause of his righteous deeds. So the reliance is on His pardon and mercy, not on the deed of the servant. If Allah, Glorious and Majestic, had not willed it, this deed would not have been, and he would not have been guided to it. He is the One who guided him to it and led him to it, Blessed and Exalted is He. So to Him is the gratitude and to Him is the praise, Glorious and Majestic. So their entry into Paradise is by His mercy, favor, and forgiveness, not by their deeds alone, but rather their deeds are causes. And the One who facilitated it and necessitated entry into Paradise and granted that is Allah alone, Blessed and Exalted is He. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds - they will have the Gardens of Paradise as a lodging,
إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ كَانَتْ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتُ الْفِرْدَوْسِ نُزُلًاWherein they abide eternally. They will not desire from it any transfer.
خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا لا يَبْغُونَ عَنْهَا حِوَلًاAs for those who believed and did righteous deeds, for them will be the Gardens of Refuge as accommodation for what they used to do.
None amongst you can get. into Paradise by virtue of his deeds alone. They said: Allah's Messenger, not even you? Thereupon he said: Not even I, but that Allah should wrap me in His Grace and Mercy.
لن يدخل أحد عمله الجنة، قالوا: ولاا أنت يا رسول الله؟ قال: ولا أنا، إلا أن يتغمدني الله برحمتهThe question is: How do we reconcile the meaning of the noble hadith with the meaning of the noble verses? May Allah guide you.
